Commission probing July 23 firing boycotted

IMPHAL, Sept 23 – No one has submitted any affidavit to the one-man Commission of Inquiry constituted to probe the controversial July 23 firing incident in Imphal market that claimed lives of two besides injuring five others.

As no one submitted affidavit till the last date yesterday, the Commission has extended the date for submission of affidavits till October 8 next.

Justice P G Agarwal, who is heading the Commission said the hearing of the inquiry could not take place as no one has submitted addifvits. The hearing was scheduled to begin at 11 am yesterday at Hotel Imphal.

The Commission will serve notice to the families of the dead and injured victims of the incident to submit their statements with regard to the incident, he said and appealed to the people to extend cooperation to the Commission.

Earlier, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup had announced its decision of boycotting the judicial inquiry.
