The Speaker served notices to Mr Sangma and two MLA sons Conard and James on the complaint of some legislators. Mr Lanong while talking to ET said, there are reports in the newspapers that Mr P.A Sangma and some NCP legislators are in league with congress for formation of new government in the state, he said.
He added that the complainants have questioned as how Mr P.A Sangma being the chairman of the Meghalaya Progressive alliance (MPA) and NCP being a constituent of MPA can join with congress. I have examined the complaints and found that it merits show cause notice and there is prima facie case under the 10th schedule of the constitution.
The matter will be disposed off after receiving reply from Mr Sangma and other MLAs, Earlier, four MLAs were show caused and suspended in Meghalaya following which the votes of four MLAs were declared invalid during the crucial trust vote on March 17.
The MPA government had survived the trust vote with Speaker casting vote. However, there is speculation that President Rule in the state will be revoked soon. The Congress and NCP are inching closer to form a government in the state. Sources in congress and NCP however admitted that there is voice of dissent in both the parties regarding the new political equations.
