Sikkim NCP chief’s son caught with Rs 10 lakh

GANGTOK, April 25 – In a major embarrassment for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on the eve of the elections in Sikkim, the son of State NCP unit president Ashoke Tsong was caught redhanded by Rangpo police trying to sneak into the State with Rs 10 lakh today.

The accused, Lhanum Subba was attempting to cross into Sikkim from Siliguri with Rs 10 lakhs in his vehicle when he was apprehended by police at the Rangpo check post at around 4 pm. He could not explain the source of such a huge sum of money with him leading to his arrest and seizure of the money and the vehicle.

Police at Rangpo checkpost, the key entry point to Sikkim, were conducting intensive checking at the border outpost keeping in view of the approaching poll in the State.
