Poll notification issued in Tripura

AGARTALA, March 30 – The notification for the Parliamentary elections for two seats – West Tripura and East Tripura constituencies on Saturday has given a new pace to the ongoing electioneering in the State.

Filing of nominations will conclude on April 4, according to the Election department. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on April 6 while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 8.

Two Left Front candidates – Khagen Das (West) and Bajuban Riang (East) will file their nominations on March 30 while Cong-INPT candidates – Sudip Roy Barman (West) and DC Hrangkhawl (East) will submit their nominations on April 1.

The Election Commission has already appointed six Observers to monitor the election in the State.

Dibak Singh, Rajrup Fulia and SL Meena will oversee the election process in West Tripura Parliamentary constituency while Bala Prasad, Manmohan Singh and GR Meena will supervise the election in East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency.

A total of 20,79,810 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise. Of the total voters, the number of male voters are 10, 63,983 and female voters are 10, 15,827.

In West Tripura Parliamentary seat, the total number of voters is 10, 91,957 while it stands at 9,87,853 in East Tripura constituency.
