GJM lifts ban on land and Excise taxes

DARJEELING, March 30 – Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has called off its decision not to pay land taxes. It had been launched from April last year as part of the non-cooperation movement against the West Bengal Government.

The GJM had announced in April last year that no government taxes will be paid in a bid to make dents in the revenue collection of the WB Government.

GJM has also allowed the people to submit their Excise taxes.

“Keeping in view the approaching Lok Sabha elections, we have allowed this relief till the elections”, said GJM general secretary Roshan Giri.

However, the ban on paying telephone and electricity bills still stand.
