Dimapur : About 15 to 20 houses and three autorickshaws were destroyed this evening in a fire that broke out dangerously close to the Indian Oil Depot near the Thahekhu village gate.

The fire broke out around 5:50 in the evening and according to unconfirmed reports from residents, the fire spread from a candle during a phase of blackout.

By around 6:00 PM, the fire was doused but residents and neighbors alleged that the fire brigade arrived only after the fire had been put out. “I called several times and their phones were always engaged.

Then they said that the fire van has gone, but they took a long time to arrive”, said one doctor living in the vicinity of the fire. No injuries were reported till the time of filing this news report. Meanwhile, the Dimapur Municipal Council handed over a sum of Rs. 10,000 as immediate relief, from the Municipal Relief Fund.
