The supporters broke the windshields of four of the trucks including an LPG tanker, according to a report reaching here. It was informed that about 270 trucks including 48 LPG carriers and 40 oil tankers were being escorted by security forces from Imphal when elements claiming to be NPO bandh supporters, stormed the convoy near an oil pump station just before reaching Senapati bazaar on Friday morning.
The supporters broke windshields of four of the trucks and burned old tyres on the road to prevent any passage. The trucks have returned to Imphal due to the threat from the bandh supporters, it was informed.
In this connection, the All Manipur Petroleum Tankers and Drivers Union has called for a meeting on Saturday, while the Manipur Drivers’ Welfare Association will be having another.
