Dimapur : A meeting of the Truck Owners’ Union, Truck Driver Union and Bus Union will be held at the office of the DMC at 11:00 am on January 9 next, to deliberate issues pertaining to parking of buses and trucks within the DMC jurisdiction.
G Kits, Convenor of the Traffic Cell, DMC has informed all concerned to attend the meeting positively.
GPRN/NSCN terminates one
Dimapur : The GPRN/NSCN today terminated one “Sgt. Major. Ikeye, son of Zuhoi, Ahoto Village, UT I, bearing Army No. QR-26114” from national service for “repeated indulgence in theft and robbery”.
“Col.” Aheto Chophi, “camp commander” issuing the order stated that the order comes into effect immediately.
Veteran Naga woman passes away
Imphal : Lu P Majalinliu Ruangmei, a renowned Naga woman leader and close associate of veteran freedom fighters such as Rani Gaidinliu, A Z Phizo, and Naga Peace Council member Rev. P Meigam, passed away on December 31 last in Dimapur, according to a delayed report received here.
She was 106 years old. She was also the president of Women Society, Nungba Block (Tamenglong district), of the Naga National Council, 1959-64.
While fervently condoling her demise, a press statement by the Nungnang Women Society of the Nungba Sub-division in Tamenglong district informed that the wife of Ngamchung Ruangmei passed away at Zeliangrong Village in Dimapur on December 31 at 1:30 pm.
Her death was also lamented by the various religious and social leaders of the Nungba region and Tamenglong districts besides various organisations in the region, conveyed the press statement.
Workshop for IEC officials underway
Kohima : Menukhol John, Commissioner & Secretary Health & Family Welfare today suggested IEC officials to club together with other program officers and coordinate efforts towards reducing
Total Fertility Rate, Infant Mortality Rate & Maternal Mortality Rate. He was speaking as chief guest at the 3 –days training workshop for IEC Officials in the Deptt. of Health & Family Welfare that got underway at the Red Cross Complex Kohima, this morning.
The workshop aims to equip IEC officials to conduct IPC/GD and advocacy sessions in selected villages in the coming months. The first batch includes Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng, Mon, Zunheboto & Kiphire districts.
While the second batch that is due from January 14 to 16 will include Dimapur, Peren, Kohima, Wokha, & Phek districts.
Azo mourn Vesusa’s demise
Kohima : Minister for health and family welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu mourned the demise of Vesusa Huire, Head GB of Phek village, who passed away on January 4 last.
He was the longest serving Head GB in Phek district and Nagaland also, the minister said adding that though he is no more, his “guidance and honesty” and valuable contribution towards the betterment of the society will stay ever fresh in everyone’s heart.
The minister also conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
Demise of Ngaku Chang condoled
Dimapur : H Chuba Chang, member of NLA 53 A/C Noksen, has expressed shock at the untimely demise of T Ngaku Chang, CDPO Tuensang, on January 3 last. H Chuba in a condolence message conveyed,
“Though it is very difficult to fill the vacuum created by his demise, I share the sorrow with the family members and pray for the solace through God’s grace.”
In addition, the Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officers’ Association has also expressed deep sorrow at the demise of CDPO Ngakusomba Chang. Late Ngakusomba, who hails from Noksen Village under Tuensang district, was a member of ENGOA and had served as Transport Officer.
He was serving as Child Development Project Officer at the time of his demise. Bangjung Chang, assistant general secretary ENGOA, in a condolence message, stated that the Association had lost one of its genuine members and it would be difficult to fill the vacuum created by his death.
The Association conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family and prayers to grant them solace.
