The Council has warned motor garages and workshop owners within the DMC jurisdiction to clear public places/roads immediately. Owners of buses and trucks are also informed that they would not be allowed to be parked on the roadside other than their designated parking zone.
Moreover, parking of heavy vehicles/trucks for loading and unloading purposes on the roadside of any street under DMC jurisdiction has also been restricted from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm till further order.
The notification from the DMC also directed all building owners to remove all building materials from the roadside within 24 hours after unloading.
Owners of light vehicles are further directed not to park their vehicles on the wrong side of the road or in ‘No Parking’ zones, while also following single lane parking to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
The DMC has also directed vendors not to cause obstruction to pedestrians and to shift their business either to New Market or Naga Shopping Arcade, while the pedestrians are advised to use the footpaths which have been newly constructed by the DMC within the town jurisdiction to avoid traffic congestion.
The convenor of Traffic Cell of DMC, G Kits, has further stated that no further notice would be served in this regard and warned that offenders would be penalised as per law.
