The DHEP union in a note from executives lamented that the “bogus elections” were held in the conference hall of the Wokha DC instead of deliberating on the issues of DHEP-affected people, employment, and development and “water reservoir issues”.
The union in a note appended to be by vice president P Zanthungo Patton and general secretary T Hayithung Odyuo expressed regrets that vested interests have “preplanned to take over the union leaderships by blindly ignoring all democratic norms and legal rights bestowed upon the present legitimate team led by its president Shri N Shanthungo Yanthan”.
The note termed as “totally illegal, illogical” the activities of one Y Odyuo “imposing as president” and office bearers.
The note said the union met on January 3 and unanimously “reiterated in the leadership” and unwavering support to Shanthungo Patton as the president of the union.
This was in the interest of the progress and development of the affected people as well as of the project, the note maintained. The note also said the meeting took serious note of the activities of the “bogus LOU leaders”, whose “action and activities completely contradict the existing honorable high court orders presently enjoyed by the incumbent president…”
In other matters, the union expressed displeasure that the office of the head of DHEP’s project at Doyang has been abandoned. The note demanded immediate stationing of the head of project at the DHEP. The DC of Wokha had also issued directions to the Head of project to be stationed at Doyang, the note said.
Further, the note expressed concern at the “multiple problems” being faced by the 89-days employees.
They are dedicated and putting in more time of service as compared to regular employees, the note said.
The union appeals to the NEEPCO authorities to look into the matter and regularize their services.
