Tripura to get ITDC's third star hotel in northeast

Agartala, Oct 19 — State-owned India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) will set up a three-star category hotel in Tripura, the third of its kind in the northeast region, officials said here Thursday.

The ITDC and the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to set up the hotel in Agartala.

"The Tripura government has provided 2.65 acres of land near Raj Bhavan to set up the hotel," TTDC managing director K.R. Chakma told reporters.

ITDC vice-chairman and managing director Lalit Kumar Panwar said the proposed hotel in Tripura would be the third star category hotel of the corporation in northeast and the eighth in the country.

The ITDC and the TTDC have formed a company, the Tripura Ashoka Hotel Company Private Limited, to set up the hotel.
