To ensure uninterrupted power supply during puja days, Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL) is arranging 55 MW additional power from two Northeastern States. Sources in the TSECL said, the State will buy 30 MW from Meghalaya and 25 MW electricity from Mizoram to avoid power cut during the puja.
In addition, the State will receive 70 MW from the Central pool. Besides, the State has own production of 105 MW. The State may have a shortage of 20 MW during the puja as per a preliminary estimation. “The deficit could be mitigated with additional power coming from two NE States”, said Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) Niladri Sekhar Chakraborty here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, OTPC officials said that the first unit of Palatana power project was scheduled to be operational by first week of October. Hectic persuasions are going on to bring at least one Central Minister to inaugurate the mega power project. However, there is a speculation that the commissioning of the first unit might take place on October 14.
Reports from Palatana said, the BHEL engineers put the steam turbine on motion recently. This will continue for 12/14 days. If the steam turbine functions well, then the gas turbine will be set on motion.
The erection of 800 KV transmission line for evacuation of power from Palatana to Bongaigaon in Assam has already been completed. Two separate transmission lines have been raised for evacuation of power from Palatana to Bongaigaon and Tripura grid.
