Bhaichung to help Arunachal football body get FPAI affiliation

ITANAGAR: India's football icon, Baichung Bhutia, has assured the Arunachal Pradesh Football Players Association (APFPA) to help them in securing affiliation to the Football Players Association of India (FPAI).

Sources in the APFPA said on Monday Bhutia, also the president of FPAI, agreed to help APFPA after attending a meeting with Kipa Ajay, the APFPA general secretary in New Delhi.

Earlier on August 22, Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) general secretary G Doke accompanied by Ajay attended the special general body meeting of All India Football Federation (AIFF) in New Delhi.

Doke informed that the Tadar Tang Memorial Football Tournament had to be postponed mainly due to some financial problems and because of the ensuing Solung festival as well. He appealed all the teams and players to bear with the inconveniences as a result of the rescheduling of tournament dates.

He said APFA would prepare a football calendar by the end of 2012 for the smooth scheduling of various football tournaments in the state. As per the new schedule the Tadar Tang Memorial Football Tournament would be held from September 22. The APFA general secretary has urged all the district teams to participate in the government-sponsored tournament to increase the popularity of football in the state.
