Sikkim forms panel to stop fleecing of tourists

GANGTOK, July 7 – The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sikkim is all set to become the sole authority for issuance of Nathula-pass permits to the tourists.

Secretary of the department N Yethenpa informed that due to increasing tourist flow the department with regard to issuance of Nathula permits, is aiming to bring fair practice within the tourism stakeholders and avoid any harassment or unscrupulous dealings with the tourists.

She said that the department is setting up a monitoring committee with the Chief Secretary as its Chairman which will be monitoring the room tariff of the hotels along with transport charges as a whole.

The monitoring committee will be constituted very shortly with the aim to curb and prevent fleecing of tourists.
