As huge traffic snarls have been witnessed due to the inability of loaded trucks to negotiate the bad portions on the highway, all transporters were asked not to ply trucks weighing above 10 tons along the road till the situation improves. In a press communiqué issued by commissioner and secretary of works and housing department, Temjen Toy, Nagaland police said they will not allow heavy vehicles weighing more than 10 tons to travel from Dimapur to Kohima. Nagaland chief secretary, Lalthara, has also written to his counterpart, Manipur chief secretary, D S Poonia, IAS, requesting him to instruct all Manipur bound trucks to restrict the weight to below 10 tons.
