Explosives, contraband seized by Dimapur police

Kohima, Jul 10 : Dimapur police busted an explosives racket and seized huge quantity of explosives, contraband ganja and drugs and arrested two persons, official sources today said.

They said a raid was conducted by East police station personnel yesterday, leading to the recovery of 430 sticks of explosive gelatin, 90 meters of cortex fuse wire, 19 detonators, 50 kg ganja and 32 capsules of banned drug from a house in Master colony in Nagarjan area of Dimapur town near the railway tracks.

A man and a woman were arrested from the house.

Sources said the arrested, both reportedly of North cachar hills of Assam, were booked under the Explosive Substances Act and NDPS Act. They were believed to be in the illegal trade for the past 3-4 years and used to ship the prescribed items from Mizoram.

Sources further said the raid was preceded by an undercover operation earlier in the day during which two policemen posing as customers went to the house and struck a deal with the arrested.
