Nagaland Congress says Prime Minister keen to resolve Naga issue

Kohima, Jun 22 : NPCC president S I Jamir has said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was 'ready to go an extra mile' to resolve the Naga political issue and assured that 'positive actions' in this regard would be taken at the earliest.

According to a statement issued by the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president last night from New Delhi, a delegation of the party led by him and CLP led by Tokheho Yepthomi met Dr Singh in New Delhi yesterday.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister asserted that this was an unique opportunity for Nagas to resolve the political problem.

The NPCC and CLP delegation had apprised the Prime Minister of the need to resolve the Naga political problem within a time frame.

The combined delegation also met with CWC member and general secretary in-charge of Nagaland Luizinho Faleiro in Goa Niwas, Delhi on June 20.

In the meeting, the NPCC executive committee resolution, reaffirming the expulsion of MLA I Imkong MLA, was submitted in response to the revocation order by Mr Faleiro against the expulsion of I Imkong from the Congress.
