Meira Kumar to open 13th conference of north-east region

New Delhi, Apr 27 : The three-day 13th conference of the North East Region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association(NERCPA) will be hosted by Arunachal Pradesh at Itanagar beginning tomorrow.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, patron of the association, would be inaugurating the conference.

The topic of discussion of the conference is 'Financial Autonomy of Legislative Assembly Secretariat adhering to the provision of the Constitution of India'.

The NERCPA consists of eight state CPA branches of the north-east region. The aims of the association are to promote knowledge of the constitutional, legislative, economic, social and cultural aspects of parliamentary democracy with particular reference to the eight north-east states. The NERCPA conference is held annually in one of the eight state branches -- Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim of the region.
