SC asks Tripura to free school from security forces

New Delhi, Mar 10 : The Supreme Court today directed Tripura Government to remove security forces from all school premises, including the state capital Agartala so that the study of the children do not suffer.

Right to Education has now made a Fundamental Right and Article 21(E) now forms integral part of Right to Life.

Today's directions were issued on a petition alleging that most of school buildings have been converted into camps for paramilitary forces involved in anti-insurgency operations in the state.

Earlier, the apex court had issued similar directions to the state of Chhattisgarh which is in the grip of naxalite and Maoist violence particularly in Dantewada district.

All schools and hospital buildings under the occupation of paramilitary forces, including Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) were got vacated by the apex court and Chief Minister Raman Singh was told to make alternative arrangements.

The State of Tripura has also been directed by the Court to make such arrangements for the forces stationed there to counter the insurgents, who are active in the state.
