VARANASI: Under the students' experience in interstate living (SEIL) programme, a group of students from six north-eastern states like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will arrive in the city on a 3-day visit on January 14.

The SEIL is a voluntary organisation formed in 1966 to promote national integration.

City secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Prateek Singh, said that the programme is an initiative of the ABVP.

A group of 33 students will arrive in Varanasi on Friday and attend a programme at the department of philosophy and religion, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), on the same day.

According to him, they will also attend a function organised by the Sanatan Dharma Inter College on January 15.

Singh said the SEIL has been working to strengthen unity among the people of the country. The vision of SEIL is to establish communication between border areas and other parts of the country.

The SEIL has been organising national integration tours, career guidance courses and personality development camps for the students of north-eastern states and other boarder areas of the country.
