The victim from Mizoram''s Champai district was taken by a woman identified to a residence at Madhurban area in Silchar town on Thursday where she was raped, they said.
She yesterday escaped from the place and went to the Mizoram Circuit House in Silchar and informed the liason officer there about the incident after which he caught the culprits and handed them over to police, they said.
Six students besides the woman who took the victim to that area were arrested, they said, adding, during interrogation the boys revealed that they had paid money to the woman for bringing the victim.
Three of the culprits study at Cachar College in Silchar, one is a student of Government Boys Higher Secondary School and the remaining two were from Oriental School and Central School, they said.
Three of the students are sons of Assam police personnel residing at the Police Reserve Family Line at Silchar, they said, adding a search was on for tracing three other youths who also committed the crime.
