According to a report, Bikash Baidya, a teacher of Jlefa Higher Secondary School in South Tripura had protested smoking in the staff room by two other teachers--Chitan Lal Dey and Jayanta Roy yesterday.
Mr Baidya was assaulted by Mr Dey and Mr Roy in the staff room itself.
Director of School Education Sahadeb Das said that they had asked the Tripura District Education authority to investigate the matter and file a report within the next seven days.
