Oscar introduces budget phones @ Rs 1700 – 4500

Oscar Electronics is the newest entrant to join the bandwagon of mobile phone companies in India with the launch of their budget Dual SIM phones.

With a very nominal price ranging between Rs 1700 to 4500 the company is targeting the middle class or the budget phone seekers. Although the price is low, Oscar assures that the phone itself is very good quality with a wide variety of features to its credit.

In the first instance the company will launch its range in North East India with plans of expansion to other parts of the country followed by that.
The phones have been categorized under N1 which refers to the entry level models and Z1 which refers to the higher end models of the range. Six out of the ten models have already been launched under these two categories. Both the base model comes with vibration speakers and features like FM radio, MP3/MP4 player, access to social networks and is equipped with 1.3 megapixel camera. The high end Z1 models have a few additional features along with that include a high end QWERTY keypad, fast processor, front back camera and a few more. Dual-SIM GSM connectivity is supported by all handsets and is backed by a one year warranty.

With competitors like Lemon, Karbonn and Micromax, the company officials are very sure that their product with a combination of low price and varied features will be able to hold its own and grow from there. In the first instance the phone will be available at about 1500 outlets and later on will expand to being available from about 8000 outlets.

Oscar Group Executive Director, Suresh Wadhwani, said, “We will invest Rs 100 crore this year on our product and marketing. By the end of first year, we hope to sell one lakh mobiles per month in North and East India with a turnover of Rs 250 crores.”
