Assam-Nagaland discusses cross border illegal activities

Dimapur, March 16 : A co-ordination meeting was held between District Administration of Golaghat (Assam) Dimapur and Wokha (Nagaland) on Friday, March 12, 2010 at NRL Guest House, Numaligarh. D.C Golaghat H.N. Bora while welcoming the officials from both the states said that the co-ordination has no pre-agenda for discussion, however he said that the two states’ district administration need to have such kind of co-ordination meetings in the future to strengthen better relationship and to have better information sharing to tackle cross border illegal activities and to settle pity issues within the states.
Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Maongwati Aier while thanking the Golaghat district administration for inviting the officials from Nagaland for co-ordination meetings said that the two states has an age long history of friendship in a very cordial socio-cultural relationship from way back a time when Assam was under kingship and had a history of matrimonial relationship of marrying a Naga woman which is why Naganimora has been named in honour of the Naga lady as a queen.
While supplementing the views of the Golaghat DC, Aier was optimistic that a timely co-ordination meeting like this would settle any issue amicably whenever it arises between the two states. He further invited the Assam district administration to Dimapur for the next co-ordination meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Wepretso Mero thanked the Golaghat Deputy Commissioner for accepting his invitation to be the guest of honour during the Kyong Tokhu Emong cum Road Show in Wokha last November.
Mero was optimistic that such gestures would revive the old traditional ties and friendship between the two states. Others who spoke in the meeting were SP Dimapur, Liremo Lotha, DFO Dimapur, Kocha Meyase, SP Golaghat M. Chetia and officials from neutrals force CRPF.
