APPC demands action from Assam CM, students write to CS

Itanagar, Feb 24: In a letter to the Assam Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee has asked for his personal intervention at the Dipa fiasco and initiate stern action against the culprits involved. On Feb 22, vehicles with Arunachal registration were kept waiting for more than 10 hours by some people of Assam allegedly retaliating a death of a youth from Assam in Arunachal. The Committee further said that travelers from Arunachal are unnecessarily harassed both by the police and citizens.

The Committee while calling for safe passage of travelers, said that such incidents will create tension between the two states and also disturb peaceful co existence.

Adi Students Union in a letter to the Chief Secretary, Govt of Assam has demanded immediate arrest of miscreants involved in assault on Panggeng. It gave 15 days time to the Assam govt to take action failing which the Union threatened to initiate action.

Meanwhile, All Upper Siang District Student Union condemned the physical assault of Kangken Panggeng, son of Parliamentary Secretary, Law & Fishery. J. K. Panggeng.

The Union requested the concerned authority to immediately arrest the culprits involved in the incident at Dipa within 15 Days.
