In the four day long meet in which members of Assembly Committees of north Eastern state are to participate, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Meira Kumar and general secretary PDT Acharya will take part as observers, opposition leader Radhabinod Koijam informed today.
He further said that a team of legislature comprising himself, MLA O Joy and three other MLAs led by Speaker S Budhichandra will represent the state in the meet which will held from January 28 to 31. State Assembly committee is preparing the ground situation of the state related with the theme of the meet “Impact of Insurgency on the Social and Economic Development, Radhabinod added.
The report will study thoroughly the spate of kidnapping of individuals for ransom by underground elements, attacking houses with bombs on extortion demand, the living condition of people, and delay in the developmental activities in the state, he revealed.
The matter of killing of people by the state actors in the name of counter insurgency, killing of people without trial occurring in the state of Manipur will also be tabled in the meeting, Radhbinod went on to say.
The meeting will also discuss ways to end insurgency problems in the region through dialogue, he added.
