WW-II museum draws large crowd as Hornbill fest gets on

Kohima, Dec 3 (PTI) With the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in Nagaland from insurgents, domestic and foreign tourists were flocking to the idyllic Naga Heritage Complex near here during the on-going Hornbill festival.

While one of the major highlights was a glimpse into various facets of Naga life and culture under a single roof, another destination was the Second World War Museum at Heritage Complex, Kisama about 10 km south of here.

Although inaugurated during last year?s Hornbill festival, many new features were added to the museum this year and thrown open for public during the week-long event, officials said.

The museum gives bit-by-bit account of the 64-day long battle of Kohima from April 4, 1944 that completely ravaged the hill town, then a district headquarter of undivided Assam.
