The encounter took place when police commandos rushed to Kmeng Yorbung area, 25 km from here, yesterday after reciving reports of movements of militants. When the commnados reached the spot they were fired upon by the militants. In the encounter that ensued the two ultras were killed on the spot.
One .38 revolver, three rounds of ammuntion, one handgrenade and one motorcycle were recovered from the spot, the police said.
In another incident, two persons were injured when militants exploded a grenade at a private house at Keisampat area here last evening. The motive behind throwing the grenade at the house is yet to be known, the police added.
