Gogoi, reiterating his governments commitment towards alleviating the socio-economic lot of the minorities, tea garden workers and tribes in order to bring them to the mainstream said,
”It is only by ameliorating the socio-economic condition of the people who are way behind that we can take the state along the path of progress and prosperity.”
Exhorting the beneficiaries for proper utilisation of the money for construction of dwelling units under the scheme, he asked them not to fall into the dragnet of middlemen and to approach the Deputy Commissioners if confronted with difficulty.
He announced that solar energy would be provided to places which do not have access to electricity.
State Minority Welfare Department Minister Nazrul Islam said that besides Kamrup (rural) district, the programme would be launched in 12 other districts of the state soon.
