Aizawl: With a 12-year-old girl being infected with swine flu today, the total number of swine flu cases in Mizoram rose to three, official sources said.
Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma, nodal officer for the H1N1 disease in the state health department,told that the throat swab samples of the class six student was sent for tests to the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) laboratory in Kolkata on Friday last.
NICED officials today confirmed that the sample tested positive.
The victim would soon be quarantined and treated at the Falkawn Hospital near here, he said.
How the girl got infected with the dreaded disease is being investigated.
A total 54 throat swab samples have been sent to NICED from Mizoram since August 14.
Two security personnel were found to be positive on August 15 last.
Meanwhile screening of people coming from outside the state continued at the lone Lengpui Airport near here, Mizoram-Myanmar border Zokhawthar check post, Mizoram-Manipur border Khawkawn hamlet and Mizoram-Assam border Vairengte check gate.
