The bandh has been called by the Autonomous State Demand Committee(ASDC), Dimasa Students' Union, Dimasa Mahila Samiti and several other organisations demanding the restoration of the Autonomous Council which was currently under Governors' rule.

The bandh supporters are also demanding payment of salary to Council employees pending for the last four months and establishment of law and order in the trouble-torn district.
