Migrant workers asked to work in Imphal area only

Imphal, July 30 (PTI) Non-Manipuri migrant labourers have been adviced by the police to work only in Imphal market complex and Imphal municipal areas after a spate of killings involving migratory workers, official sources said today.

Superintendent of Police (Imphal West) district has appealed to the workers to work only in Imphal market area and Imphal municipal areas, sources said.

They said the step follows after killings of non-Manipuri migrant labourers by unidentified gunmen in the past some months.

So far over 20 migrant labourers have been killed in separate incidents by unidentified gunmen in Manipur this year.
