Replying to a call attention motion raised by Morung Makunga and Awangbou Newmai, the Chief Minister said he had also spoken to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi about the matter.
About 800 women and children are now taking shelter in Tamenglong district, mostly in Tousem division. Only one road connects Tousem division to the rest of the state and it is not worth travelling during the rainy season.
The Chief Minister said he had instructed the Deputy Commissioner of the district to arrange food by taking into consideration that transportation may not be possible till October. Doctors would also be sent to the area, he assured. The Chief Minister also directed the Director Rehabilitation to personally supervise the assistance extended to the people. As the displaced people would not be able leave soon arrangements would be made for them to earn their livelihood under NREGS, he said.
Raising the issue, Awangbou said Tousem subdivision is the nearest place where the displaced persons could escape from North Cachar Hills. About 20 persons had come yesterday, he said. The problems in North Cachar Hills had caused law and order and food problem in the sub-division, he added.
Morung Makunga said the local organisations of the state and MLAs extended help to the displaced persons.
PWD Minister K Ranjit, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee, Thangminlien Kipgen and other MLAs also visited the places where the displaced people were staying.

N Loken Singh, Agriculture Minister, during question hour informed that agriculture will be promoted in hill areas and seeds of soyabean, urd, pea, lentil, mustard, maize were distributed.
