The murder of Prof Islamuddin has been one in a series of violent incidents unleashed by militants in the State for a long time claiming many lives. It has destroyed peace and hope of many mothers, wives and children.
The youth in the State have paid a heavy cost as their careers have been affected. The murder of Prof Islamuddin has shattered the family.
“My father had not done anything wrong. Right from my childhood he has been practicing ‘simple living, high thinking’,” said Akbari, Prof. Islamuddin’s daughter.
“I brought up my son with so much difficulty. Why did they kill him? We want a proper investigation. He did nothing wrong to anyone. We want to know the reason behind this heinous act. Now that he is gone, who will look after his children?,” asked Lehijan, Prof. Islamuddin’s mother.
Family members, colleagues, staff and students of the university and also well wishers from all walks of life paid their final tribute to late Prof Islamuddin at the community hall of the Economics Department of the Manipur University (MU) recently.
Professor’s mortal remains were taken to his hometown in Yairipok of Thoubal district and last rites were performed.
“Killings are going on too long in Manipur. We need to voice our protest till all these killings are stopped. We will not keep quiet,” said Sarojini Devi, a local resident.
