Students pour into Eduquest

Organisers hope for good response from Shillong edition of fair
Guwahati, May 26 : Eduquest, eastern India’s largest education fair, concluded this evening with hordes of curious students flocking to the venue to know about the career options before them and top-bracket institutions in India and abroad.
The two-day fair was organised by The Telegraph and Saraswati Online.com India Ltd at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here.
Braving smart showers that lashed the city in the afternoon, students, accompanied by their parents, continued to pour into the venue, participated in discussions and made queries about new-age courses and career options with officials of the leading institutions.
Altogether 75 leading institutions participated in the fair.
Pratim Hazarika, chief executive of Kingsway Group of Institutions, said the students had many questions about the courses in hotel management and aviation industry. “Most of the students have given their address and contact numbers so that we can keep in touch with them,” he said.
Pradeep Chandanan, manager (corporate relation) of the Indore Management Institute and Research Centre said he was very impressed with the outlook of the students of Guwahati.
“Most of them were interested in taking up challenging careers,” he said.
Nilim Hazarika, a student, said the fair experience was really fruitful for him as he received a wealth of information about many leading institutions.
“I visited the fair on both days. Since I do not want to complete my graduation under Gauhati University, I am looking forward to enrolling myself in some professional course with better job prospects. I am waiting for my HS results, which will be declared tomorrow. The fair has guided me in deciding my career move,” he said.
Sushmita Phookan, a mother who wants her daughter to do MBA with MCA said with the private educational institutions making a beeline to attract students it becomes difficult to select the right one. “This kind of fair is very important to help us make the right decision at right time. Eduquest was an enlightening experience for me and now I am in a position to send my daughter to the right MBA institute,” she said.
An official associated with Eduquest said the Guwahati edition was a success and he was eagerly looking forward to the same kind of response from students when the event would be inaugurated at the Shillong Club tomorrow. “We are expecting a good turnout in Shillong,” he added.
