Tekcham riders trounce Khurai in 2nd semi-final
Imphal, May 13 : Manipur Police Sports Club marched into the final of the 19th Governor’s Cup Invitation Polo Tournament defeating Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club 5-3 at Imphal Pologround today.
Manipur Police Sports Club and Tekcham Polo Club will meet in the final on Wednesday.
In the first chukker, both teams rode hard but failed to score.
In the second chukker, S. Bimol Singh of Manipur Police Sports Club scored the first goal but then conceded a suicidal goal to give Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club its equaliser. In the third chukker, S. Somorjit Singh and Bimol Singh of Manipur Police scored the team’s second and third goals.
However, Lamyanba Pakhang’s K. Samananda Singh fired in two goals to level the scores 3-3.
In the last chukker, Bimol Singh scored two magnificent goals to take the score to 5-3.
At this juncture, Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club refused to play in the fourth chukker after mounted umpire Shatramani Singh awarded a penalty hit to the Manipur Police team.
In another semi-final, Tekcham Polo Club defeated Khurai 6-4. S. Sadananda Singh scored the opening goal for Tekcham in the first chukker but Khurai Polo Club geared up in the second chukker with Th. Ranjit Singh scoring the equaliser.
Tekcham Polo Club’s P. Ojit Singh scored three goals while S. Sadananda Singh and M. Manihar Singh scored one goal each but Khurai Polo Club’s put up a fight with P. Jotin Singh putting in one goal.
In the fourth chukker, Khurai Polo Club came up with two goals from P. Jotin Singh but was unable to save the game.
