GoAir opens gateway to the North East

GUWAHATI, May 23 : GoAir, India’s smartest airline announced the addition of two new major destinations on Thursday, Guwahati and Bagdogra and the induction of one brand new A320 aircraft, a press release said.

With the addition of Guwahati and Bagdogra routes, GoAir has now expanded its services to the East of India after establishing a good presence in the North, West and Southern regions of the country. The addition of two new routes takes the total number of destinations serviced by GoAir to 13 and total number of weekly flights provided by the airline to 335. The airline will offer an all-inclusive starting fare of Rs 2,400 and Rs 2,900 for flights to the new destinations originating from Delhi and Mumbai respectively.

In accordance with the airline’s fleet induction plan, GoAir also announced the induction of one brand new A320 aircraft, taking the total number of aircrafts in its fleet to 7.The airline will induct another aircraft in June making the average age of the GoAir fleet approximately 6 months. This will be the youngest fleet amongst Indian carriers.

Commenting on the expansion, Jeh Wadia, Managing Director, GoAir said, “I am delighted to announce the launch of Guwahati and Bagdogra as part of our new summer schedule for 2009. We believe that these routes offer untapped potential and we hope to grow in this market in the months ahead. These new routes will cater to a mix of various segments like small and medium enterprises, corporate travelers, leisure flyers and pilgrim traffic”.
