Assam players rule the court in style

Iciraibe Salie of Nagaland lifts boys’ under-14 singles title
Guwahati, May 16 : Assam players made the most of the titles in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament that concluded at the Chachal Tennis Complex here today.
Nagaland lad Iciraibe Salie lifted the under-14 title defeating Nabarun Gogoi of Assam 6-2, 7-5 in the final.
Salie missed another title in the under-14 doubles partnering Petemi Meyase. They went down to the Assam tandem of Jonaid Tohsif and Nabarun. The Assam pair won 6-3, 6-3.
Marisha Dutta of Assam won the under-14 girls’ singles defeating Soumaiya Begum of Assam 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 but missed the doubles crown partnering Manaswinee Hazarika. They lost to Jyotishmita Khound and Soumaiya 3-6, 5-7.
Parikshit Somani and qualifier Abha M. Baruah of Assam won the under-12 boys’ and girls’ titles respectively. Somani defeated another Assam player Gaurav Devsharma 6-1, 6-1 and Baruah got the better of third seed Protiksha Sharma of Assam 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
The organisers, All Assam Tennis Association, will now prepare for the AITA Super Series for under-14 and under-16 players from June 1 to 5 and June 8 to 12 respectively.
