82.1 per cent record turn out in Sikkim

GANGTOK, May 2 : A record 82.1 per cent electorate exercised its franchise in the Assembly and Parliamentary polls in Sikkim, a State Election department official said.

The voters’ turnout at Wednesday’s polling for 32 Assembly seats and the lone Lok Sabha constituency has been an estimated 82.1 per cent, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO) DK Pradhan told PTI.

Poklok-Kamrang Assembly constituency from where the Chief Minister and the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) president Pawan Kumar Chamling is seeking a sixth term in the State Assembly polled 85.21 per cent votes, while another constituency Namchi-Singhithang having Chamling in the fray polled 74.33 per cent.
