As it would entail shortfalls in arranging proper security if the visit of a VVIP/VIP protectee is given at short notice, the State Home Department has also asked for information relating to the visit of protectees along with their security categorisation in advance.
Along with this intimation to the Governments of Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram, the Home Department has also written to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer saying that the office of the CEO may advise all political parties to inform the State Police Department in advance if any one of their protectee political leaders is visiting the State.
The State Home Department took up the step following the attempt of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to visit Senapati district of Manipur yesterday without giving any official intimation to the Government of Manipur.
